INTI aims to develop smart graduates

INTI College Sarawak not only imparts knowledge and skills to students but also inculcates positive human values during their learning process. The college is taking education beyond the classroom and in aiming to develop a generation of smart graduates.

"We encourage students to think outside the box and apply what they have learnt to the real life situation when they do their project and assignments." Said INTI College Sarawak chairperson Datin Sri Hajah Lilian Haji Mohd. Salleh.

She said that the ability to apply knowledge to real life situations can make the difference in today's ever changing and challenging world. Speaking at the joint graduation ceremony of the class of 2006 INTI-University of Hertfordshire (UH) United Kingdom, she said that towards the end, INTI had provided a number of extra curricular activities besides academic training.

These activities are organized by our students affair office and the career service center together with the student body, INTIMA. They include college fairs, fund raising, club, welfare and sports activities. Last September, the institute held an annual charity food fair and the proceeds were donated to the Sarawak Thalassemia Society, the Sarawak Children Society and Peryatim.

The college named four outstanding achievers for 2006. Ting Ching Hung, a former student obtained a first class honors degree in civil engineering from James Cook university in Australia in July this year.

Ting was earlier awarded a scholarship worth RM69, 420 by the university.

Lee Jiong Khai, another former diploma in civil engineering student obtained a first class honors degree in civil engineering from the university of Leeds, United Kingdom.

Raymond Sieh Yeong Sern, a former diploma student in mechanical engineering and Esmond Chua Ning Ern, a former diploma of civil engineering student had each been given a 50% percent tuition fee discount for two years by the University of Plymouth United Kingdom.

The quest of honor at the graduation ceremony was Martin Timbrell who is the dean of Business school and director of international Development University of Herefordshire United Kingdom.
