The Lismore campus graduation ceremonies are usually held on two occasions in April/May and August/September. Graduands who are unable to attend the graduation ceremony have the option to graduate in absentia and may not have to wait until the graduation ceremony to obtain their testamurs.

The graduation ceremony comprises a formal academic procession, presentation to the Chancellor or Vice-Chancellor for award of degrees, congratulatory speeches and student responses, guest speakers, and photographic opportunities. The ceremony enables graduates to acknowledge the milestone of completion of a University award.

All offshore international students are invited to attend a graduation ceremony in Australia, and from time to time the university holds graduation ceremonies in offshore locations, which may be more convenient to attend.
