The African Students Association (ASA)
is a dynamic group of students,
mostly Africans,
who undertake various
activities including Academic oriented and cultural events with the goal of
promoting awareness of the rich African culture
and people
The Association
was founded on the 7th of March, 2003 by
African students
who felt the need to provide a supportive environment for
African students
to unite and celebrate diverse African cultures and discuss
issues pertaining to
Africa.
They also felt there was a need to educate the INTI
College community about Africa's rich cultural heritage,
thus resulting in
better awareness of African culture.
Our motto," In unity we uphold our
integrity with Knowledge" has been a beacon of hope, guiding and motivating us
towards the fulfillment of our academic and personal goals. Our Association consists of members from
various African countries, namely
Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya etc. We are about 45 members presently
enrolled in Diploma and degree programs in INTI College Sarawak. Although we
are still a relatively young Association, we have staged campus-wide events
which have enriched the cultural mosaic of INTI College Sarawak such as the
Kuching Fest culture show, African Nite, African Gala Nite, Talentine Nite,
which has brought fame and popularity for the association within one-year in a
row. Also, we proudly host our Annual African Nite celebration, which have
been attended by several other international students within our college and
local student of INTI College as well as staff of our Noble College. Most of our
members grew up in Africa
and thus are very well educated in the cultures of
most African countries. So if you have some general questions concerning the
African culture, or you are curious about some African dish you had on one of
our Africa Nite events, etc., feel free to ask our public relations Officer or
the executives and they will be glad to help.
Alternatively you can contact us. Feel free to contact us
incase you are a
potential African students coming to our college for proper briefing. Most of
the names are usually linked to our profile or email address
